Themed Residencies

and Creative Sabbaticals

Separate from our competitive Artist Residency Program, Ragdale welcomes and encourages artists of all kinds from emerging to professional as well as arts administrators and advocates. Ragdale offers three- to six-day Themed Residencies and Creative Sabbaticals providing participants with the time and space to work on projects.

Ragdale Themed Residencies

A Themed Residency offers sanctuary to groups of emerging to established artists, as well as arts administrators and advocates in up to 12 sleeping rooms at the historic Ragdale Estate. A Themed Residency offers these groups a collaborative, idyllic retreat space to gather, create, share, and/or hold meetings or conferences. Themed Residencies may be booked for either three-or six-day sessions, based on availability.

Examples of Themed Residency groups include: members of dance, theater, and performance companies; writing groups; visual artists groups; and arts administrators. As with all residencies offered, Ragdale encourages exploration and experimental use of time spent together in a retreat setting.

Themed Residencies are scheduled separately from the Ragdale Residency Program and are scheduled in between the 18-day Ragdale Residency sessions. Catering from outside vendors is allowed and is to be coordinated by the group, along with Ragdale.

Chef services for groups of five or more are available at an additional cost upon request.

Ragdale Creative Sabbaticals

Similar to Themed Residencies, Creative Sabbaticals are offered as three-or six-day residencies for individual artists working in any discipline. Designed for individual artists, curators, designers, arts administrators, and others in the creative field, these stays allow artists to engage in important projects that would benefit from the unique setting and facilities Ragdale offers.

Creative Sabbaticals are also scheduled separately from the Ragdale Residency Program and are scheduled between the 18-day Ragdale Residency sessions.
