Keanna Boyko is a Robin and Sandy Stuart Photography Fellow.
Keanna is a photographer born and raised in the midwest, living in the city of Chicago for the past 10 years. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a BFA concentrated in Photography, where her love for large format started with a 15 minute tutorial squeezed into the lunch break between classes. The practice of “doing it yourself” and less-conventional technical exploration stuck, driving her to find LATITUDE - a DIY and Service NFP arts education space built on the mission of accessibility - where she has been working as the Lab Director since 2021, and Deputy Director since 2025. Through her position at LATITUDE, she has worked with individual artists, galleries, and institutions to produce both local and international exhibitions. Some of her favorite projects have been with The National Council for Incarcerated and Formerly Incarcerated Women and Girls, Gerber Hart Library and Archive, Leslie Lohman Gallery, and The Poetry Foundation.
Keanna’s personal work ebbs between themes of connection, depression, and memory, building itself in everyday interactions and instances. She captures large format stills that challenge the viewers’ relationship to intimate scenes - far enough that the ambiguity causes introspection, close enough to question what you’re doing with such proximity to this visceral moment. Keanna’s work has been shown at Buddy Chicago, Elastic Arts, and Bridgeport Art Center.
