C.R. Calabria is a New Orleans-based emerging writer, journalist, and cultural critic. He’s been awarded residencies at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, where he is now a panelist, and the Spruceton Inn, where he received the Tracy Kennard Emerging Writer’s Award. A finalist for the 2025 Ninth Letter Literary Awards, Cory’s writing has been supported by the Tin House Summer Workshop, the Sewanee Writers Conference, and the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, and his work appears in Brevity, Pit Magazine, and Strange Pilgrims. Cory is a graduate of the LSU MFA program, where he was the recipient of the Robert Penn Warren Thesis Award. He is writing a book about human research subjects, based on his more than 12 years participating in Phase I, or first-in-human, clinical trials.
