Taney Roniger is a visual artist, writer, and curator based in New York City and the Catskills. A graduate of Yale University, where she earned her MFA in 1997, she has shown her work in numerous venues both here and abroad, including: Lesley Heller Workspace, Flatiron Projects, Robert Henry Contemporary, and Sperone Westwater in New York City; Gallery Sonja Roesch in Houston, TX; Corners Gallery in Ithaca, NY; The Islip Art Museum in Islip, NY; The Front and the Contemporary Art Center in New Orleans, LA; and the Pera Museum in Istanbul, Turkey. From 2012-1018 she was a regular contributor to The Brooklyn Rail, where she served as Guest Editor for the December 2017 issue, and now writes regularly for Interalia Magazine. In addition to teaching at the School of Visual Arts in New York, she regularly hosts conferences and symposia, the most recent being Thingly Affinities: Rethinking Aesthetic Form for a Posthumanist Future. Her awards and honors include a grant from the Trellis Art Fund, an artist residency at Arteles in Finland, three Yaddo fellowships, a Pollock-Krasner grant, and a Stacey Sussman Cavrell Memorial Traveling Fellowship. In 2016 she was a finalist for a Creative Capital Arts Writers Grant in short-form nonfiction. She lives in East Meredith, NY.
