Gabriel Rodreick is the recipient of the Craig H. Neilsen Fellowship.

Gabriel Rodreick is a performance artist from Minneapolis, MN. He’s been the lead singer/songwriter for Minneapolis based groups Treading North (2012-2017) and Freaque (2018-present). He is a dancer and choreographer for a live music and dance production called A Cripple’s Dance (2018-2019). He is a teacher, dancer and choreographer with the All Abilities program at Young Dance in St. Paul, MN.

Freaque explores the underbelly of corporeal experience. Songs and stories about decay, decomposition and death being juxtaposed with eroticism, relationship and life. Through a dark, dank, and dirty artistic voice, Freaque tells stories of life blooming in the shadows and those lives taking shape in a myriad of bodies.

A Cripples Dance is a live music and dance production created and performed by people with Spinal Cord Injuries and people with able bodies. The production is a platform for musicians and dancers living with SCIs to explore the limitations that their disability has bestowed upon them. When dancers become curious about their physical limitations, they notice that limitation can actually be used and flipped into a capability. Dance begins when those capabilities become realized.
