Jeremy Owens is the creator and host of You're Being Ridiculous, a long running Chicago based storytelling series most recently featured at Steppenwolf. Jeremy’s work has appeared in the storytelling shows Story Jam at Ragdale Ring, WRiTERS’ NiGHT, Essay Fiesta, Fillet of Solo Theatre Festival, Story Club Chicago, The Paper Machete, That’s All She Wrote and theatre spaces all over Chicago. His writing has also been featured in Chicago Magazine, Alma, Heauxs Magazine and others. He has taught storytelling as a writer in residence at Write On, Door County, The Writers' Colony at Dairy Hollow, Story Studio Chicago, Highland Park High School’s Focus on the Arts Program, Leyden High School Writers Week, Baker Demonstration School, Northwestern Summer Writers Conference, Northeastern Illinois University, Story Studio Chicago’s Writers Festival, and the University of Arkansas. Jeremy is a 2021 recipient of the Steppenwolf Theatre – Morton Shapiro & Robert Barford Award, a graduate of the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville where he was honored as a distinguished alumnus of the Theatre Department in 2024, and has an MFA in performance from Roosevelt University in Chicago. His solo show BIG GAY NIGHTMARE premiered at Steppenwolf in 2023 to sold out audiences and was featured at Theatre Squared (Fayetteville, Arkansas) as part of their Sunday Night Social Series.
