Kim McKean is a theatre artist and filmmaker who aims to make work that is socially conscious, imaginative, and grounded in reflecting empathy in the human experience. She’s received funding to develop new work through the National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, TX, and has published about her work developing new plays in Theatre Topics, ETUDES, Routledge, and Palgrave Macmillan (upcoming). Kim was a finalist for the National Director’s Fellowship and has had developmental residencies with the Orchard Project and Ragdale Foundation (upcoming). Kim has received several national and regional acting and directing recognitions including “Best of Chicago Theatre” from Picture this Post. Her most recent short film, MONAH, premiered at the Austin Film Festival. Kim serves as an Associate Professor and Chair of the Acting Program at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
